Public Liability Claims
Members of the public often suffer injury as a result of simply leaving their homes and walking along the pavement.
They may trip over a raised manhole cover or fall down holes or raised paving slabs, severe cracks, loose kerbs, etc. Injuries may also be suffered at other places like supermarket car parks, or in shops or any other location where members of the public are likely to pass through. If you have been injured, it is important that you report the accident to the owner of the premises or property, whether it is a shop owner, council, local authority, utility company or other.
If the accident was witnessed, get the details of the witnesses while they are still around as it will be necessary to prove exactly when and where the accident occurred. If possible, return to the accident scene with a camera and take photographs of the cause of your injury. It is equally important that you see a qualified medical expert who can confirm the extent and nature of your injury and offer a course of action to relieve the symptoms. If a claim is made, it will be necessary to obtain medical evidence to support your claim so do not avoid visiting your GP if symptoms persist.
If you believe that you may be suffering from an injury following a Slip or Trip incident and would like to talk to someone about whether to claim compensation call NOW on 0845 644 5135 or complete the claim form.
