Example: Claim for lung damage

Example: Repetitive Strain Injury Claim

Mrs B worked in a factory on a production line, carrying out the same manual job for over three years. She began to notice numbness in her hands with pins and needles, and an increasing inability to hold items such as a cup or to turn door handles. Although she received training in carrying out her duties, she was not aware that doing the same relatively light job day in day out might lead to repetitive strain injury. In fact, the strain of repeating the job function over the period lead to a 60% loss of functionality in both arms and her hands in particular. If the company had varied her job to several other functions in rotation, there is a very real chance she would have received no injury at all.
